Job-Seeking Registration Campaign Achieves Outstanding Success Across Chatsworth, Pinetown and Phoenix.

28 June 2026

The MK Labour Desk, in partnership with Sanfosawu, is pleased to announce the overwhelming success of its latest job-seeking registration campaign, which was conducted across three major communities in KwaZulu-Natal: Chatsworth, Pinetown and Phoenix. The campaign forms part of an ongoing commitment to reduce unemployment by connecting job seekers with employment opportunities and empowering communities through meaningful economic participation.

The campaign began with a successful registration drive at Gandhi Park in Chatsworth, where hundreds of unemployed residents gathered to register their details and access employment opportunities. The response from the community was encouraging, with people from different backgrounds, age groups and skill levels attending the event. Many participants received guidance on employment opportunities, career pathways and the registration process.
Building on the momentum from Chatsworth, the MK Labour Desk team proceeded to Pinetown, where an even greater turnout was experienced. The Pinetown registration drive exceeded all expectations, attracting approximately three times the number of attendees compared to the Chatsworth event. The venue was filled with enthusiastic job seekers eager to take advantage of the opportunities presented through the programme. The remarkable attendance highlighted the growing confidence that communities have in the MK Labour Desk initiative and its ability to create real employment opportunities.

Throughout the day, registration officials worked tirelessly to assist applicants with the registration process, ensuring that every participant received the necessary support and information. Many employers and recruitment partners were able to identify suitable candidates, resulting in immediate employment opportunities for a significant number of registered job seekers.
Following the successful Pinetown programme, the campaign continued to Phoenix later the same day. Once again, the community responded positively, with another large number of unemployed residents attending the registration drive. The Phoenix event was equally successful, demonstrating the widespread demand for employment initiatives and the importance of bringing such programmes directly into local communities. Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to register and engage with organisations committed to addressing unemployment.
The combined impact of the registration campaigns in Chatsworth, Pinetown and Phoenix has been truly remarkable. Together, these three events resulted in more than 1,500 people successfully securing employment, marking a significant milestone for both the MK Labour Desk and Sanfosawu. This achievement reflects the dedication, hard work and collaboration of all partners, volunteers, organisers and employers who contributed to making the campaign a success.

Beyond creating employment opportunities, the campaign also restored hope to many families who have been struggling with unemployment. Every successful placement represents an individual whose life has been positively changed, a household that will benefit from a stable income, and a community that moves one step closer towards economic growth and social development.
The MK Labour Desk remains committed to expanding these initiatives to other communities throughout the country. More registration campaigns, recruitment drives and employment programmes are already being planned to ensure that even more South Africans are given access to meaningful work opportunities.
The organisation extends its sincere gratitude to all community members, local leaders, volunteers, employers and strategic partners who supported these successful events. Their commitment and cooperation have demonstrated what can be achieved when organisations and communities work together towards a common goal.

The MK Labour Desk and Sanfosau reaffirm their commitment to fighting unemployment, promoting economic inclusion and creating sustainable employment opportunities for all. The success of the Chatsworth, Pinetown and Phoenix registration campaigns serves as a strong foundation for future initiatives, and the organisation looks forward to continuing its mission of transforming lives through employment.
