1. OVERVIEW

This Return/Refund Policy governs the terms under which ALZINAH FUNERAL SERVICE (PTY) LTD (Registration No: 2025/603662/07), operating in partnership with South Africa Is Not For Sale Workers Union (SANFOSAWU), handles requests for refunds of membership and funeral benefit payments made through our online payment system.

2. SERVICES PROVIDED

ALZINAH FUNERAL SERVICE (PTY) LTD provides funeral benefits to SANFOSAWU members as part of an integrated membership package that includes:

  • Funeral coverage for main member, spouse, and three (3) children under 21 years
  • Union membership services through SANFOSAWU

3. PAYMENT STRUCTURE

3.1 General Policy

  • Combined membership and funeral benefit fees are non-refundable once the service period has commenced.
  • All fees are considered earned upon payment as they grant immediate enrollment in both union services and funeral coverage
  • Funeral benefits are subject to a 6-month waiting period from the date of activation

3.2 Cancellation Window

Customers have fourteen (14) working days from the date of initial payment to request cancellation and a full refund, provided that:

  • No union services have been utilized through SANFOSAWU
  • No representation has been provided by SANFOSAWU
  • No claims or grievances have been filed on the member’s behalf
  • The member has not participated in any union activities
  • No funeral benefit claims have been submitted to ALZINAH FUNERAL SERVICE

    4. REFUND ELIGIBILITY

    Refunds may be considered in the following circumstances:

    4.1 Duplicate Payments

    • If a customer is erroneously charged twice for the same period
    • Documentation of duplicate payment must be provided

    4.2 Technical Errors

    • System errors resulting in incorrect charge amounts
    • Processing errors not initiated by the customer

    4.3 Ineligibility for Services

    Full refund of the fees paid with the application will be processed

    If an application for membership is rejected by SANFOSAWU as per their constitution

    5. NON-REFUNDABLE CIRCUMSTANCES

    No refunds will be issued for:

    • Change of mind after the 14 working day period
    • Voluntary cancellation of services
    • Suspension or expulsion from SANFOSAWU for disciplinary reasons
    • Inability to use services due to customer’s personal circumstances
    • Disagreement with policies or decisions
    • Customers who have already utilized union services or funeral benefits
    • Dissatisfaction with services after the waiting period
    • Services not used during the 6-month waiting period

      6. REFUND REQUEST PROCEDURE

      6.1 How to Request a Refund

      • Submit a written request to: refund@sanfosawu.org.za
      • Include:
        • Full name and membership/policy number
        • Date of payment
        • Payment reference number
        • Reason for refund request
        • Supporting documentation (if applicable)

      6.2 Processing Time

      • Refund requests will be reviewed within 7 working days
      • Approved refunds will be processed within 14-21 working days
      • Refunds will be credited to the original payment method used

        7. DISPUTE RESOLUTION

        • Customers who dispute a refund decision may submit an appeal in writing
        • Appeals must be submitted within 30 days of the refund decision
        • For union-related disputes, matters may be escalated through SANFOSAWU structures
        • For funeral benefit disputes, matters will be handled by ALZINAH FUNERAL SERVICE management

        8. PAYMENT DISPUTES

        For payment disputes or chargebacks initiated through banks or card providers:

        • Fraudulent chargeback claims may result in service termination
        • ALZINAH FUNERAL SERVICE (PTY) LTD reserves the right to suspend services during dispute investigation
        • Customers must first attempt resolution through our internal refund process

        10. AMENDMENTS

        ALZINAH FUNERAL SERVICE (PTY) LTD reserves the right to amend this Return/Refund Policy. Customers will be notified of any material changes via email or website notification.

        11. GOVERNING LAW

        • This policy shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
